First Aid for Clothes: Stain Removal Chart

Via Martha Stewart

A FANTASTIC chart for stain removal. Print and post by your washer, you won't regret it. (Those of you who are extra-over-prepared might also want to stock up on the basic remedies: an eye-dropper, isopropyl alcohol, cheesecloth, soft brush, and a dictionary to look up words like 'tamp')... but seriously, just read the chart.

  1. Wow, Martha knows all!

I swear by a product called "Winsor & Newton Brush Restorer". You can buy it in art supply stores, and it removes ANYTHING painty. I've used it to remove dried house paint from jeans, bicycle grease from linen pants and nail polish from brand new laminate floors. I have no idea what's in the stuff, but I do know it's odourless and 100% nontoxic... it was originally developed to remove IV tape residue from the skin of premature babies. Keep it in mind when mini-me gets older and starts getting into trouble!
